By Korboi K. Gbelewala, LINA Lofa County Correspondent
VOINJAMA, June 11 (LINA) - Global Communities, Partners for Good has ended a five-day community-led Total Sanitation Triggering Validation program in Salayea District, Lofa County.
The program brought together 25 communities to trigger the communities to be free of open defecation.
Speaking at the close of the program, Ministry of Health National Supervisor, Anita Korgar, said the overall view of the program is to provide awareness on Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) and to construct public latrines and wells in various communities.
Korgar said Global Communities will also ensure that the latrines are well constructed and maintained to avoid people defecating in the open that could make the environment unclean and unsafe.
Salayea District Commissioner Barkolleh Galakpayan commended Global Communities for the initiatives and urged citizens to take complete ownership of the CLTS program.
Global Communities, Partners for Good is currently conducting similar training in Foya and Vahun Districts under its CLTS program.
