Land Dispute Threatens Grand Gedeh, River Gee Ties

ZWEDRU CITY, Feb 18 (LINA) -The Legislative Caucuses of Grand Gedeh and River Gee counties are reviewing a land dispute between Putu District in Grand Gedeh County and Kilipo Chiefdom in River Gee County.

According to Grand Gedeh County Land Commissioner, Alfred N. Dorbah Sr., the land case between the two counties started when the River Gee side decided to plant a welcome signboard on a parcel of land which both parties are claiming. 

This issue prompted an investigation with a number of joint conferences held to find a common ground on the issue which requires both caucuses to act to maintain the good relations subsisting between the two counties.

Meanwhile, the National Traditional Council Grand Gedeh branch has placed a temporary halt on all land development along the Ceh Creek bordering the Gorbo and Gbor Creeks.

The County Land Commissioner made the disclosure Monday in an interview with the Liberia News Agency Grand Gedeh Correspondent.

Dorbah said except for farming purposes, a hold has been placed on all commercial activities such as pit sawing, logging, cultivation of cash crops and others until the dispute over the parcel of land is resolved.
