Work On Sirleaf Market In Lofa Resumes
By Korboi K. Gbelewala, LINA Lofa County Correspondent

VOINJAMA, June 10 (LINA) – The Deputy Superintendent of the Lofa County branch of the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA), Finda Boakai, has disclosed resumption of work at the Sirleaf Market Building in Voinjama, Lofa County.

Madam Boakai told the Liberia News Agency recently in Voinjama that work on the market building is being funded by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai.

She disclosed that the first contractor (name withheld) used sub-standard materials during the construction of the market; leading marketers to abandon the building for more than two years, as many of them saw it as a death trap.

She clarified that though the LMA leadership was blamed for allegedly conniving with the contractor, it had nothing to do with awarding the contract and therefore has no power to prosecute the entity.

She lauded President Sirleaf and Vice President Boakai for accepting to complete the Sirleaf Market building, adding, “This has brought smiles on the faces of marketers in the county.”
