BUCHANAN, June 10 (LINA) - Grand Bassa County Police Detachment has a new Chief Superintendent.
He is Superintendent Anthony Weah, who replaces Fredrick D. Nepay, who was re-assigned as the new Police Chief for Bong County.
Performing the official turning over ceremony in Buchanan Wednesday, Deputy Inspector General Patrick T. Sudue admonished the officers to accord Weah the due courtesies and respect in the discharge of their duties.
Sudue noted that the rotation of heads of police in the counties is a normal exercise by authorities of the National Police and should not be misconstrued by anyone, adding, “We did not change Nepay because he was not up to the task.”
He stressed that it is through Napay’s hard work and dedication to duty that Grand Bassa is today free of armed robbery.
Meanwhile, outgoing Police Superintendent Nepay has urged his colleagues to cooperate with Weah as they are all fighting towards achieving one goal.
The new Bassa Police chief thanked the officials of the LNP for the confidence reposed in him and promised to carry out his duties professionally.
Officials and officers of the joint security, including the Drug Enforcement Agency, National Security Agency and National Fire Service as well as the County Attorney, attended the turning over ceremony.
Prior to his appointment, new Police chief Weah served as Bong County Police Commander.
