VAMAH TOWN, June 4 (LINA) –Gbarpolu County Chief Education Officer (CEO) Danwolo B.S. Catakaw has threatened to prosecute any parent caught in the unwholesome habit of taking their children to the farm during school hours.
Catakaw made the threat Thursday at a ceremony marking the official take-over of Mr. Latta Varney Bemah as Principal of the Bopolu Central High School.
Catakaw noted that because the government attaches serious importance to the improvement of the educational system of the country, he will not relent to arrest and prosecute any parent caught in the unwholesome practice of depriving their children of the right to education.
He observed that the deliberate act of parents to continuously take their children to the farm when school is in session has caused the only government high school in the area to be virtually empty; adding “I do not understand why parents would choose to delay the education of their children.”
“My office in collaboration with the county authority is making frantic efforts to ensure that parents send their children to school”, Catakaw pointed out.
