MONROVIA, June 2 (LINA)-Sinoe County District #-3 Representative Matthew D. Zarzar has commended Superintendent Romeo Quiah, Liberian security apparatus as well as UNMIL for peacefully putting under control the violence that erupted in the county.
Recently, disagreement erupted between some citizens of Sinoe County and Golden Veroleum (GVL), an oil palm company operating in the county, over the expansion of the company, with both parties were providing conflicting accounts of the situation.
GVL claimed that the citizens endorsed its clearing exercise, while some citizens maintained that the process violated their rights to their land.
Speaking on the ELBC phone-in program “Super Morning Show,” Rep. Zarzar said the County Legislative caucus traveled to the county recently to probe the issue, and warned citizens to desist from using violence as a means of resolving problems.
According to Lawmaker Zarzar, violence is not the way out, and cautioned citizens having problems to channel their grievances through the appropriate authorities for redress and desist from any violent activities, as violence has not done Liberia any good.
