Chief Justice Urges LNBA to Remain Active

By Comfort M. Johnson, LINA

MONROVIA, June 1 (LINA) - Chief Justice Francis S. Korkpor has urged the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) to remain active and functional for the growth and development of the legal profession.

“We believe that with a fully functional Bar we will have a system in the administration of justice in the country,” Korkpor said, adding, “We work in partnership with the Bar; if the Bar is weak, we who are in the administration of justice cannot be strong.”

Speaking Saturday at the close of the LNBA convention and election held in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, Justice Korkpor pointed out that it was against this backdrop that the full bench of the Supreme Court of Liberia was represented at the ceremonies.

He said the Supreme Court bench was “highly impressed” with the attendance at the convention, noting that as Justices of the Supreme Court, they will always make it their duty to attend such a program to add flavor to it.

Justice Korkpor indicated that the electoral process was fair and transparent, noting “what we do here today is what the country will look at tomorrow.”

Justice Korkpor noted that during the outgoing leadership of Cllr. Theophilus Gould, LNBA took a double step in making the Bar to be strong and active.

Justice Korkpor expressed appreciation for the hospitality accorded the Bench by the local bar.
