Nimba County Superintendent Fong Zuagele
Unresolved Land Disputes Trouble Nimba Supt. Zuagele
By Wellington G Patrick, LINA Nimba County Correspondent
SANNIQULLIE, June 1 (LINA) – Nimba County Superintendent Fong Zuagele has identified unresolved land disputes in the county as a major challenge that needs the intervention of government and the United Nations as the international peacekeeping force draws down.
Supt. Zuagele said since the 14-year crisis, resolving boundary disputes and land ownership clashes has stirred commotion between local leaders and national government in several villages and towns in Nimba, especially Ganta, Sanniquellie and Bahn.
He noted that he wants all unresolved land conflicts in the county to be fully resolved before UNMIL troops leave the country.
Zuagele made the call in Sanniquellie recently when UN Special Representative of the Secretary General to Liberia, Karin Landgren, met with the county’s leadership to discuss progress made between UNMIL, county authorities and the people as UNMIL’s mandate comes to an end.
