Paygar Wins LNBA Elections In Bassa

BUCHANAN, May 31 (LINA) - Counselor G. Moses Paygar has been elected President of the Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) at elections held in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County on Saturday for a three-year term.

Others who contested for the presidency were Cllrs. Tiawan S. Gongloe and Lavela Koboi Johnson.

According to LNBA Elections Commission Chairman, Cllr Fredrick Cherue, who announced the results, Cllr. Paygar won 144 votes, followed by Cllr. Gongloe with 123 votes and Cllr. Johnson with 38 votes.

Meanwhile, Cllr J. Bima Lansanah was elected vice president and Atty. Dallamah S. Sulonteh as Secretary General while Atty. A. Kandakai Jaleiba won the treasurer post on white ballot.

After the results were being announced, Cllr. Gongloe congratulated Cllr. Paygar on his victory and promised to work with him, urging those who voted for him to do same for the good of the Bar.

The occasion was witnessed by Chief Justice Francis S. Korkpor and members of the Supreme Court Bench.

At the close of session, Cllr. Theophilus Gould, outgoing President of the LNBA, thanked the Election Commission for a job well done and the orderly manner in which the electorate participated in the exercise.
