By Ballah M. Kollie, LINA
MONROVIA, May 29 (LINA) – The President of the Liberia National Bar Association, Counselor Theophilus Gould, has promised to advocate for amendment of the Association’s constitution that limits the presidential tenure to one term .
“As I leave (the presidency), I will be advocating for more than one-term for the president because there are lots of work that the president needs to do which may not be done in a year period,” Cllr. Gould asserted.
He said limitation of tenure has also prevented LNBA presidents from actively participating in other associations and regional bodies, adding, “We need a little more time to allow presidents to participate at both regional and international bodies.”
In an interview with the Liberia News Agency via mobile Thursday, the LNBA outgoing president said the association enjoyed an increased level of recognition at home and abroad under his leadership.
He challenged members of the association to avoid indicting each other as a means of selling themselves to win votes.
He also called for observance of the election law, civil electoral process as winners will need the support of all members for the smooth and forward movement of the association.
