By D Ignatius Roberts, Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, Feb 17 (LINA) - The Coordinator of  the  Ministry of Agriculture  in Grand  Cape Mount County, Mr. Botoe Massaquoi, says the Paddy Rice project introduced by the Ministry is gaining momentum  in the county.

He said under the scheme more than 68 local farmers in the districts of Garwula, Porkpa, Tewor and Gola Konneh have been supplied farming tools, seed rice and other materials to boost production of rice, the Liberian staple.

Mr. Massaquoi made the disclosure at the weekend an interview with the Liberia News Agency Grand Cape Mount County correspondent.

He explained that the project is intended to upgrade the farming sector of Liberia in the aftermath of the 14 years of civil conflict that has destroyed every fabric of the society.

According to him, besides rice, the farmers have been trained in the areas of cassava and livestock production to buttress government’s efforts aimed at self- sufficient in food production.
