BUCHANAN, May 26 (LINA) –Former Information Minister Lawrence Bropleh has donated materials and cash to victims of the recent storm disaster in Gorzohn Community in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
Dr. Bropleh said the donation of LD20, 000 for students who lost their uniforms, books and shoes as a result of the rainstorm and five bundles of zinc for the repair of damaged homes in Gorzohn, is his initial contribution.
He said while he was enjoying the rain in his Upper Buchanan residence, “my sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers in Gorzohn were in terrible shape and it pains me.”
“We just thank God that there were no human lives lost because had this storm come in the day while our kids were out there playing, where mothers had gone to markets and people walking about in this very populated community, anything could have happened ,” he told the Liberia News Agency Monday.
He promised to advocate with organizations, businesses and humanitarians to ensure that houses affected be restored. Over 50 houses were damaged by the storm early Sunday, May 24.
Receiving the donations, John D. Paygar, Zone Leader of Gorzohn Community, thanked Dr. Bropleh for identifying with them and called on other well-meaning citizens, organizations and the Red Cross to come to the aid of the victims to restore their lives back to normal.
Bropleh,a son of Bassa and former Information Minister, hails from Gozohn in Upper Buchanan.
