Vice President Boakai Stresses Importance Of TVET
By Calvin Brooks, LINA

MONROVIA, May 26 (LINA) - Vice President Joseph Boakai has observed that Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) is “the premium strategy” for youth employment and empowerment in Liberia.

He noted that technical and vocational skills will empower Liberian youths to acquire employment from concession companies operating in the country.

The Vice President made the observation Tuesday when he launched the National TVET Policy and five-year Operational Plan held in the conference room of the Ministry of Education on Third Street in the Monrovia suburb of Sinkor.

He explained that TVET will play a major role in building the capacity of youths in post-war Liberia to meet the skills required by companies operating in the country.

He assured that the Liberian Government will exert all efforts to implement the National TVET Policy to build the capacity of Liberian youths technically and ensure their employability in the technical sector of the nation's development drive.

Vice President Boakai stressed that youth employment can be more effective if priority is given to technical and vocational education, rather than  just concentrating on formal education without technical skills.
