Pres. Sirleaf Warns Illegal Squatters To Quit Monrovia Park

MONROVIA, May 26 (LINA) -President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has issued a strong warning to illegal squatters to immediately leave the Monrovia Industrial Park to allow government carry on investment through industrial manufacturing activities.

She reminded residents that they will not be allowed to build on areas designated in the last ten years by government as the industrial park.

“This place was designated by the government several years ago to put industries here so it could create jobs for people. Many people have started to build in this area. The government has said it would not bother those who came there during the period when they didn’t have a place to stay,” the Liberian leader stressed.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the Liberian leader made the assertion at the end of a tour of the facilities at the TIBA Industrial Group and Garson Manufacturing both situated at the Monrovia Industrial Park in Gardnersville over the weekend.

However, she pointed out that where there was no encroachment, government will not allow any further encroachment.

“Let the word go out that the part that government has now designated as the industrial park, no one should build there because if you build there, government will break the structure down,” she warned.

President Sirleaf has designated the Ministry of Public Works to determine the perimeter of the Monrovia Industrial Park and put up signs in the designated areas to avoid any encroachment or squatting.
