River Gee Achieves Integrated Vaccines Goals, Says MOH

RIVER GEE, May 20 (LINA) – The River Gee office of the Ministry of Health has disclosed that 35,120 children were vaccinated during the May 8-14 National Integrated Routine Vaccination exercise.
Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency via mobile phone from the county, the Community Health Department Director, S. Olasford Wiah, said for the first time in many years the county has satisfactorily achieved its target for the vaccination exercise.
Wiah said the ministry surpassed its earlier target of 32,761 children, noting that this gain is worth commendation.
He disclosed that that of the total amount, 13,666 children vaccinated for polio, 11,485 for measles, while 9,969 children were de-wormed.
Ministry of Health local official attributed the huge success to the robust monitoring and supervision by the County Health Team (CHT) in partnership with volunteers from the World Health Organization and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
