DEA Nabs Man, 35, For Illegal Drug Possession

KAKATA, May 15 (LINA) - The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) in Margibi County has arrested a 35 year-old man for illegal possession of narcotic drug and other harmful substances.

The man was identified as Kwemanwoe Kollie of the World Bank Community, a suburb located along the Kakata-Weala highway.

DEA Lt./Col. Ralph O. Gooding told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) that suspect Kollie was arrested Wednesday in the World Bank Community with over five kilograms of marijuana in his possession.

Gooding said his men received a tip-off Tuesday evening and swooped on Kollie at his home and in the process he escaped but was apprehended Wednesday morning in his neighborhood.

He said the street value of the five kilograms of marijuana is overL$5, 000.

Gooding said following the arrest of suspect Kollie, the DEA officers conducted a preliminary investigation during which he denied being in possession of any narcotic drug or other harmful substances.

Meanwhile, Suspect Kollie has been charged with illegal possession of dangerous narcotic drug and forwarded to the Kakata Magisterial Court for prosecution.
