Liberian Leader Hails Cameroon On Re-election

MONROVIA, May 14 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations and best wishes to the Government and People of Great Britain on the occasion marking the re-election of David Cameroon as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

In the message to Prime Minister-elect Cameroon, President Sirleaf noted that the renewal of Prime Minister Cameroon’s mandate further demonstrates the trust and confidence of the people of the United Kingdom in his visionary leadership.

The Liberian leader further extended warmest congratulations on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia and in her own name and acknowledged with commendation, that over the last five years the Government of the Great Britain laid the foundations for better future and now considers building on these foundations to ensure that the Great Britain remains strong, prosperous and united.

According to a Foreign Affairs Ministry release, she said it is satisfying to note that for more than a century and a half, the peoples of Liberia and the Great Britain continue to enjoy historic and friendly ties and have developed keen interest on expanding cordial relations.

The release noted that on May 9, 2015 the World Health Organization declared Liberia free from Ebola due partly to an impressive assistance received from the international community, including Great Britain and the resilience of the Liberian people that largely contributed to the triumph over the deadly Ebola virus which plagued the country for several months.

Liberia continues to remain grateful for Great Britain’s assistance, particularly targeting the infrastructure and health sector, and entertain the hope that as Prime Minister Cameroon assumes his demanding role, it is her desire that the bond of friendship and cooperation which happily subsist between Liberia and Great Britain would be further deepened and strengthened for mutually rewarding benefits.
