Gbarpolu Citizens Rejoice Over Liberia Ebola-Free Status

BOPOLU, May 12 (LINA) -Scores of citizens of Gbarpolu County on Monday jam-parked the Bopolu City Hall to celebrate the declaration by the World Health Organization that Liberia is Ebola-free.
During a special thanksgiving program, Superintendent Armah Sarnor said he was gratified that citizens of the county are celebrating victory over the deadly Ebola disease.
He expressed appreciation to all partners that have been working with the county leadership as well as the County Health Team whose efforts have made the work curbing the virus in the county easy.
Sanor indicated that in appreciation of the efforts made by health workers, the county in collaboration with the Ministry of Health will this Friday host an honoring program for health workers, volunteers and international and local partners for their dedicated services rendered the county.
The Chairman of the County’s Incident Management System (IMS), Dr. Anthony Tucker, said he was grateful to health workers in the county who provide their services in fighting Ebola.
Mr. James Duo, who spoke on the behalf of Global Communities and other partners in the county, noted that the county was made Ebola free because of the level of measures put in place by the County Health Team.
He also expressed gratitude to the World Health Organization, UNMIL and the IOM, among others, for their support.
