Massive Turnout For Polio, Measles Vaccination In Gbarpolu
By Emmanuel Mondaye, LINA Gbarpolu County Correspondent
BOKOMU, May 12 (LINA) - Hundreds of parents in Gbarpolu County on Sunday turned out in various cities, towns and villages to vaccinate their children against polio and measles.
The high turnout comes in the wake of the ongoing awareness campaign involving over150 trained volunteers of the Gbarpolu Chapter of the Liberian National Red Cross Society in Bopolu, Belle, Kongba and other areas, with LNRCS foot-soldiers mobilizing parents to participate in the exercise.
Briefing journalists in Bopolu, LNRCS Field Officer for Gbarpolu County, Seth Tarweh, said the Red Cross aims to mobilize 213 communities to ensure that the targeted number of children and pregnant women to be vaccinated for measles, polio and de-worming is met.
Tarweh hoped that hundreds of children’s lives would be saved from the diseases throughout the county.
He commended parents for joining the fight against measles and polio and accepting the de-worming of their children at the nearby health centers.
