By David Pamas Seedee, LINA Bomi County Correspondent

TUBMANBURG, May 7 (LINA) – The Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) has conducted a three-day intensive regional procurement workshop for authorities of five counties.

The workshop ended Wednesday and was initiated by the PPCC in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program and held under the Strengthening Transparency, Accountability and Oversight Participation Project (STAOP).

In an interview with the Liberia News Agency at the close of the workshop in Tubmanburg Wednesday, PPCC Communications Director Nathan Bengue said the workshop was intended to improve the skills of participants to bring them up to speed in terms of getting involved in standard procurement procedures and practices.

Bengue named participants of the workshop as County Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents for Development and Fiscal Affairs, Project Management Committee Chairpersons and Procurement officers, among others.

According to Bengu, the participants were from the five Western Regional counties of Margibi, Gbarpolu, Montserrado, Grand Cape Mount and Bomi.

He also revealed that a similar workshop has also been hosted in Zwedru for Grand Gedeh, Sinoe, River Gee, Grand Kru and Maryland counties and another in Gbarnga for counties in the central region.

The workshop was held under the theme "Ensuring Transparency, Compliance, Efficiency and Value for Money through Effective Administration of Public Procurement".
