Pres. Sirleaf Congratulates Bashir On Re-election

MONROVIA, May 7 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations and best wishes to the Government and People of Sudan on the occasion marking the re-election of President Omar al-Bashir.

In the message to President-elect Bashir, President Sirleaf noted that as President al-Bashir assumes leadership of that great country, it is her hope that Liberia and Sudan will strengthen their engagements in the spirit of African solidarity.

A Ministry of Foreign Affairs release said that the spirit will enhance the desire to sustain peace, economic integration, and security within the framework of the African Union and the United Nations.

President Sirleaf expressed delight to assure the Government of Liberia’s determination to continue strengthening the cordial relations subsisting between the two countries as Liberia and Sudan endeavor to improve prosperity for the peoples of the two countries and lead them to a brighter future.
