Senator Jaye Appeals For Aid To River Gee Storm Victims
By Robert Dixon, LINA

MONROVIA, May 6 (LINA) - River Gee County Legislative Caucus Chairman Mathew Jaye is appealing to humanitarian groips to assist victims of the rainstorm that recently hit the county.

On April 19, a heavy storm in Chedepo Jarkaken in River Gee County destroyed about 98 houses, leaving over 300 persons homeless, and wounding three others who are currently undergoing treatment at the Fish Town Referral Hospital.

In an interview with the Liberia News Agency at his Capitol Building office in Monrovia Wednesday, Senator Jaye said the situation was “horrible,” noting that if humanitarian groups do not move in to provide assistance to the victims, they will suffer starvation.

The River Gee County Senator disclosed that he wrote the National Disaster Commission at the Ministry of Internal Affairs for assistance but that they told him that the commission lacks funding to provide assistance to the storm victims.
