House Passes Act Creating New District In Sinoe

MONROVIA, May 5 (LINA) -The House of Representatives on Tuesday, May 5, concurred with the Liberian Senate in passing into law an Act creating the Numopoh Administrative District in Sinoe County.
This Act was passed into law by the Upper House on July 14, 2014 and forwarded to the Lower House for its concurrence.
Following the reading of the Act on July 15, 2014, Plenary turned it over to the Joint Committee on Internal Affairs, Judiciary and Ways, Means and Finance and Development Planning for scrutiny and recommendation.
The House passed the Act minutes after the Joint Committee submitted its report to Plenary recommending the passage of the instrument.
In the report, the Committee mentioned that the passage of the Act will promote the rule of law, maintain peace and mutual understanding and cooperation between residents of the district and central government as well as support the economic recovery program of Liberia.
The Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Services 2008 Population Census Report put the number of districts in Liberia at 136.
