Suspended Lawmaker Begs For Pardon

By Hilary Vasco Wiagbe, LINA

MONROVIA, May 5 (LINA) - Suspended Margibi County District #1 Representative Roland Opee Cooper has pleaded with Plenary for pardon.

In a letter to House Speaker J. Alex Tyler dated April 28, 2015 and read in Session on Tuesday, May 5, Cooper informed his colleagues that he has served two months of his suspension, reminding them of a letter of apology sent recently in which he regretted an unruly incident.

“Honorable Speaker and Distinguished Colleagues, in view of the aforesaid, I am asking you to please pardon me”, he pleaded.

Plenary suspended Cooper for three months while two other Representatives were slapped with one month suspension each for their involvement in the disruption of Session in February, 2015.

At the same time, Margibi County District 2 Representative Ballah Zayzay has written Plenary to reconsider its decision by reducing the suspension period of Cooper from three to two months.

The two communications were sent to the Committee on Rules and Order for scrutiny with the mandate to report in one month, following their reading.
