By Decontee M. Wesseh, LINA

MONROVIA, April 29 (LINA) -A one-week immunization and social mobilization campaign aimed at reducing the rate of polio and measles kicks off nationwide in May.

Making the disclosure at the Ministry of Information press briefing Tuesday, Assistant Health Minister Dr. Saye Baawo said the campaign will run from May 8 to 14.

Baawo noted that the Ministry has noticed several outbreaks of measles in nine counties over the past few months, including Bong, Gbarpolu, Grand Bassa, Grand Gedeh, Lofa, Margibi, Montserrado, Nimba and Sinoe.

The health ministry official added that a total of 329 measles cases were suspected in those counties, with an unspecified number of those cases confirmed.

He called on parents to participate in the campaign to ensure good health for their children.
