Govt. Deploys 38 Medical Doctors To 22 Health Facilities

MONROVIA, April 29 (LINA) –The Ministry of Health has recruited and deployed 38 medical doctors to 22 public and faith-based hospitals in the 15 counties in the country.

According to Assistant Health Minister Dr. Saye Dahn Baawo, the doctors who recently completed internship training in emergency surgery will be responsible to perform surgeries at those hospitals.

At the same time Dr. Baawo has disclosed that the Ministry of Health has recruited 25 retired and newly-graduated midwives, who are currently undergoing Basic Live Saving Skills Training.

Addressing the Ministry of Information regular press briefing in Monrovia Tuesday, Dr. Baawo said the 25 midwives will be deployed in the five counties of Montserrado, Bomi, Margibi, Bong and Grand Bassa.

The health official told journalists at the press conference that the ministry has also completed the terms of reference (TOR) and posted on major websites the advert to recruit109 Mental Health Nurse Educators to support service delivery in all county hospitals, post- graduate programs and the College of Medicine.

Dr. Baawo also informed journalists that MOH has completed the development of a detailed implementation plan for essential health services delivery in public health facilities in Maryland, River Gee, Grand Gedeh, Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, Rivercess and Bomi counties.
