MONROVIA, April 21 (LINA) -The President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Armah Z. Jallah, has pledged the Senate’s support to the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) to ensure that it continues to play a key role in the growth of the Liberian economy.
Pro-Tempore Jallah observed that LPRC is one of the major revenue generating entities that could help revamp the Liberian economy which has been severely hit by the Ebola epidemic since 2014.
The Senate Pro-Tempore made the pledge Monday at the official turning over ceremony of the LPRC to new Managing Director Sumo Kupee from outgoing T. Nelson Williams held at the company’s compound in the Monrovia suburb of Bushrod Island.
He noted that if the new LPRC Managing Director Kupee should move the entity’s revenue base forward, it will be based upon the collective efforts of the workforce and the managerial team.
He commended the level of work done during the tenure of the former Managing Director T. Nelson Williams, and hoped that his successor will do more to further improve the standard of the company and its employees to enhance the overall development of Liberia.
The Liberia Petroleum Refining Company was founded in 1978 as a successor to the Liberia Refinery Company which was majority-owned by the international companies Sun Oil and Dyncrop.
