Senator Jah Calls for Increased Budgetary Support to AFL
By Richard Stephens

MONROVIA, Feb 11(LINA)-Margibi County Senior Senator Clarice Jah is calling for increment of the budget of the Ministry of National Defense.

She observed that this would help empower the new AFL to adequately carry out its statutory functions.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Senior Jah made the call Tuesday at the Barclay Training Center in an interview with journalists following celebrations marking the 67th Anniversary of Armed Forces Day

The Margibi County lawmaker also praised Defense Minister Brownie Samukai for his leadership role in transforming the AFL.

She vowed to lobby for increased support to the new AFL, and expressed confidence in the new army, saying that with the level of training, the new AFL can now represent Liberia anywhere.

Meanwhile, as the nation observed the 57th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Liberia, several Liberians commended the Commander in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf for her decision to appoint a Liberian chief of staff and deputy chief of
staff of the AFL.

In an interview conducted by LINA Tuesday, they said the appointment of a Liberian chief-of- staff was in the right direction, because it helps to restore the sovereignty of the country.

Recently, President Ellen Johnson- Sirleaf, with the advice and consent of the Liberian Senate, appointed Brig, Gen. Daniel D. Ziankhan as Chief- of- staff and Col Eric W. Dennis, as deputy chief of staff respectively.
