3 MRU Leaders To Meet Obama

By Ballah M. Kollie, LINA

MONROVIA, April 15 (LINA) – Three leaders of the Mano River Union (MRU) countries are expected to meet with US President Barrack Obama Wednesday at the White House in Washington D.C.

According to the Voice of America (VOA), Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Guinea’s Alpha Conde and Sierra Leone’s Ernest Bai Koroma, all of the worst-affected Ebola countries, are expected to discuss the region’s post-Ebola economic recovery with Obama.

The three West African presidents are in the US at the invitation of the World Bank to participate in discussions with international partners on the status of the containment of the Ebola virus disease and plans for post-Ebola reconstruction of the three worst Ebola affected countries.

The invitation to Presidents Sirleaf, Conde and Koroma is a continuation of the World Bank and IMF Spring Meeting in Washington D.C.

Since March 2014, over 25,000 probable, suspected and confirmed cases of Ebola have been recorded in the region with more than 10,000 deaths mainly in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia.
