LCCC Officials Clarify Budget Misinformation
By Korboi K. Gbelewala, LINA Lofa County Correspondent

VOINJAMA, April 11 (LINA) -Two officials of the Lofa County Community College (LCCC) have clarified that the college’s 2014-2015 budget is US$650,000 and not US$1.5 million as reported in the media.

The Public Relations Officer Koluba Akoi and acting Dean of Students, Jenkins Maliki Ngaima, clarified that US$1.5 million was proposed as the college’s budget for 2014-2015, but only US$650,000 was approved by the Legislature, which the college is currently operating with.

Appearing on a local radio in Voinjama recently, Messrs. Akoi and Ngaima explained that the US$650,000 approved by the Legislature is meant to pay staff, while fees collected from students will be used for maintenance and other operational costs.

The two LCCC officials challenged youths to take advantage of the opportunity afforded by the only higher institution of learning in the county to advance themselves educationally.

They also urged young people of the county to buttress government’s effort in reducing the high illiterate rate in Lofa County by enrolling at the college.
