HARPER, Feb 10 (LINA) -The Fourth Judicial Circuit Court in Harper City, Maryland County, Monday opened for its February Term of Court with a call on all court actors to fairly dispense justice in a bid to promote democracy in the country.
Delivering his charge to mark the occasion, the Presiding Judge of the Court, Judge Tiklo Konton, reminded Judges and lawyers in the country that the judgments they render in the performance of their duties can either build society or cause chaos.
Judge Konton told practicing judges and lawyers throughout the country that the court cannot afford to frustrate persons who are already aggrieved through the rendering of judgments that are incompatible with the rule of law.
Speaking during the occasion, the acting Superintendent of Maryland County, Mr. Henry Cole, welcomed the resident judge’s charge.
He appealed to him to speedily try the cases of the 30 inmates who have been behind bars in the county without trial for three consecutive terms now.
Meanwhile, the court recorded 31 cases on its docket which include 15 criminal and 16 civil cases.
