“We Are Interested In Constitutional Review Process”- Pro-Temp

By Prince Nagbe, LINA

GBARNGA, March 31 (LINA) – The President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Armah Z. Jallah, has said the Senate is interested in the entire Constitutional Review process and will remain engaged to its logical conclusion.

Pro-Temp Jallah, however, indicated that the Senate’s engagement with the process is and will be in strict adherence to the dictates to the Constitution of Liberia as it relates to making changes to the organic law.

He made the comment at the start of a four-day Constitutional Review Conference Monday organized by the Constitutional Review Committee in Gbarnga, Bong County.

Pro-Temp Jallah pointed out that the entire process is of interest to members of the Liberian Senate because it involves the people coming together and assessing themselves, their future and the future of their children.

“If there is nothing else common to us as Liberians, certainly the constitution is and must remain so. That is why when certain portions of it are not responsive to our needs, we can exercise our right to maintain oneness of purpose by unanimously changing them,” Jallah emphasized.

The Pro-Temp then lauded President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for initiating the process in collaboration with the National Legislature, Constitutional Review Committee and the Liberian people for their level of work and involvement in the process which has made it successful thus far.
