Pres. Sirleaf Craves State Actors' Role In CRC Process

By Prince Nagbe, LINA

GBARNGA, March 31 (LINA) – President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has urged state actors to play their respective roles in the constitution review process to ensure that the voices of the Liberian people are heard.

The Liberian leader pointed out that the report from the Constitution Review Committee (CRC) clearly shows that the people of Liberia have spoken and, as such, state actors should focus their attention on constitutional amendments the people are craving for.

President Sirleaf made the call on Monday at the start of the National Constitutional Review conference ongoing at the Administration Building in Gbarnga, Bong County in a build up to amending the 1986 Liberian Constitution.

“We gather here today to learn what our people have been saying about our constitution and how it can be improved to further their aspirations through an amendment, the process must be carried forward in strict adherence to the constitution now being enforced,” she stressed.

President Sirleaf then assured participants that the Executive has heard the voices of the people and will act appropriately by submitting in a timely manner several documents that will express the dreams and aspirations of the people to the National Legislature for approval.
