Senate Endorses AfDB Loan Agreement

MONROVIA, March 26 (LINA) – The Liberian Senate has concurred with the House of Representatives on the ratification of a US$78.11 loan agreement between Liberia and the African Development Bank (AfDB) and African Development Fund (ADF).

The loan is intended to finance phase two of the Mano River Union Road Development and Transport Facilitation Program (MRU/RDTFP).

The Liberian Senate reached the decision Thursday following an Executive Session, according to the Liberia News Agency.

Meanwhile, the Senate has received and sent to committee room a communication from Senator George T. Tengbeh recommending the erection of a “Memorial Monument” in honor of victims of the Ebola virus at the intersection of Marshall and the Roberts International Airport.

In his second communication, Senator Tengbeh also re-introduced for passage an Act to amend chapters 34, 41, 42, 43 and 44 of the Criminal Procedure Law of Liberia relating to imprisonment and the division of corrections

At the same time, the Blue Ribbon committee’s report and recommendations on salary disparities of public sector employees was also received and sent to committee room, according to LINA.
