Commissioner Wants Staff On Payroll

By Richard Baysah, Margibi County Correspondent

KAKATA, Feb 9 (LINA) – The Commissioner of Gibi District in upper Margibi County is appealing to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to include the names of a number of his staff members on the ministry’s payroll.

Commissioner Amos Boyer told the Liberia News Agency in an interview at the weekend that most of his district office staff, including the paramount chief’s clerk, general town chiefs, interpreters and janitors are also not on the Ministry’s payroll.

He said these staff got employed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs over five years ago.

Boyer said due to this situation, he is often constrained to share his meager monthly salary with the unpaid staffs, something he said was “impossible for me to continue to do as Commissioner”.

He said the fact that the names of these district officials are not on payroll is also affecting their effectiveness on the job.
