Brown Says Latest Ebola Case ‘Sad News’ For Liberia

By Decontee M. Wesseh, LINA

MONROVIA, March 23 (LINA) – Information Minister Lewis Brown has lamented the latest case of the Ebola virus in the western Monrovia suburb of Caldwell, calling it “sad news” for Liberia.

Last Friday, a 53-year-old woman was confirmed Ebola positive, prompting a team of international partners to move into the Caldwell community to solicit information on how she contracted the virus.

Speaking on the Truth FM Breakfast Morning Show in Monrovia Monday, Brown added that “this is sad news for every one of us as this reverses the countdown in the country.”

Brown noted that Liberians were “very hopeful of reaching the 42 days for Liberia to be declared an Ebola-free nation.”

He indicated that the countdown will now only begin if all the contacts of the new Ebola victim are confirmed negative after 21 days.
