Nimba Chief Calls For Traffic Rules Enforcement
By Wellington G. Patrick, LIN A Nimba County Correspondent
SANNIQUELLIE, March 21 (LINA) -The Head of the Chief and Elder Council of Nimba County, Chief Peter Gbarloun, has called on the Police Traffic Division to ensure that traffic regulations are not violated by drivers in the wake of the Ebola crisis.
Chief Gbarloun said he has observed that as Ebola subsides, taxi drivers are carrying seven passengers in a vehicle, and at the same time hiking the fares without regards for the fares set by the Ministry of Transport.
He pointed out that during the height of the Ebola disease; the Ministry of Transport published a strict order that compelled drivers to carry no more than four passengers in a taxi as part of the Ebola preventive measures.
Chief Gbarloun indicated that increasing the number of passengers has the propensity to spark a re-occurrence of the virus, adding that “Ebola subsiding is an expression far away from Ebola free Liberia.”
