MoE Constructs 16 Schools In Seven Counties

By Decontee M. Wesseh, LINA

MONROVIA, March 19 (LINA) - The Ministry of Education (MoE) has constructed 16 schools in seven counties since the coming to power of the Unity Party-led government, the Project Director of the ministry, David W. Basay, has disclosed.

According to Basay, the schools are in Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Bong, Montserrado, Grand Bassa,  Rivercess and Margibi counties.

Speaking at the Ministry of Information daily press briefing at the ministry Thursday, Basay indicated that the schools are part of 41 institutions the government plans to construct in all 15 counties.

He added that the construction of the schools started more than two years ago.

According to the MoE Project Director, 10 additional schools are nearing completion, with the rest expected to be completed in the remaining counties by June 2016.

Basay noted that furniture for all completed schools are available, and that 12 teachers’ housing units have also been completed and furnished.

“This is to ensure that teachers who are taking assignments in rural areas can have some incentives,” he pointed out.
