By Calvin Brooks
MONROVIA, March 16 (LINA) - The President of the William V. S. Tubman University in Maryland County, Dr. Elizabeth Davies-Russell has challenged school administrators to provide care for children who lack parental support in society.
Speaking Monday at a program marking the 206th birth anniversary of Liberia’s first President Joseph Jenkins Roberts at the First United Methodist Church on Ashmun Street in Monrovia, Dr Russell noted that several children are brought up by themselves without parental support these days.
She stressed that the family unit is the bedrock on which children can develop their potential and skills, noting that family unit provides security, care and love for children to be honest and demonstrate integrity.
She pointed out that Liberians should invest in their children’s education to help transform the nation and people as President Roberts provided all his wealth to educate so many.
Dr. Russell explained that if Liberians will emulate the good example of the country’s first President it will go a long way to build a vibrant nation in which citizens will be productive in every sector of the development drive.
The Tubman University President indicated that the J.J. Roberts Educational Foundation should remain committed to the dream of Mr. Roberts to educate Liberian children across the country.
