Karteh Urges Elders To Inspire Youths

By D. Ignatius Roberts, Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, Feb 8 (LINA) - The president of the Liberia National Student Union (LINSU), Laurenzo Karteh, is challenging elders to play positive roles in society that young people will emulate to become productive future leaders.

He said it will be impossible for the country to achieve its transformation, reconciliation and peace agenda, when elders do not play the role expected of them for the betterment of the society.

The LINSU president made the statement Saturday in Robertsport in an interview with the Liberia News Agency correspondent in the Grand Cape Mount County, while attending the Youth Summit, held under the auspices of the Federation of Liberia Youth (FLY) and LINSU.

He said transformation, peace and reconciliation cannot take place in the absence unity among elders and youth in the country.

He said in order to adequately achieve these pillars of a successful society, the root causes of the 14-year civil conflict must be identified and solutions found to prevent a recurrence of the conflict.
