Nimba Supt. Promises Support to Rural Women Projects

By Wellington G Patrick, LINA Nimba County Correspondent

SANNIQUELLIE, March 12 (LINA) - Nimba County Superintendent Fong Zuagele has promised to ensure that monies budgeted in the Social Development Funds (SDF) for rural women groups are made available to ease challenges facing them.

Superintendent Zuagele said the local authority will support women programs as a way of supporting their concern to compete with their male counterparts.

He made the comments at programs marking the celebration of the International Women’s Day held in Sanniquellie, Nimba County recently.

Zuagele noted that all funds allotted for women projects in the county’s budget will be equally distributed to all organizations as soon as the national government releases money to its escrow account.

At the County Council Sitting in 2012, US$110,000 and US$80,000 were allotted for women projects across the county from the County Development and Social Development funds respectively, while US$30,000 was allotted to the projects in 2015.

Nimba County Rural Women president Annie Kruah said the women plan to erect a regional office and guest house when the money is made available.
