Rep. Joseph Explains Purchase Of Ambulances

By Robert Dixon/LINA

MONROVIA, March 12 (LINA) - Montserrado County Representative Saah Joseph says he borrowed US$150,000 from a bank to purchase the two ambulances ‘First Responders’ used during the Ebola outbreak to serve the Liberian people.

He said the purchase of the ambulances is a personal initiative aimed at contributing to the health needs of his compatriots.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Representative Joseph made the clarification recently at an intellectual forum organized by a group called “Forum for Democratic Reform (FODR) located on Ashmun Street in Monrovia.

Rep. Joseph explained that he has not received “a cent” from government or its functionaries for the use of the ambulances as is being speculated in many quarters.

Meanwhile, the Montserrado County District #13 lawmaker has assured that he will continue to provide assistance to the people, despite the limited resources at his disposal.

He added that as a manifestation of his commitment to help the people, he has imported five 40-foot containers with medical supplies to be distributed among clinics and health centers in Montserrado County.

He disclosed that the containers are currently at the Freeport of Monrovia
