MONROVIA, March 10 (LINA) -The House of Representatives has passed a bill titled: “The Engineering Society of Liberia Act” into law.
All of the 24 lawmakers present in Chambers during deliberations on the bill voted for its passage, the Liberia News Agency reports.
The Act seeks to supervise and regulate the establishment and operations of engineering companies in the country for the purpose of ensuring quality works, among other functions.
The lawmakers passed the Act Tuesday following the reading of and subsequent deliberation on a report submitted to Plenary by the House Committee on Public Works.
In the report, the Committee attributed the poor construction or engineering works being done in Liberia to the absence of a body created by law to supervise and monitor the operations of construction companies.
After the passage of the Act by Plenary, the House’s Executive Committee Chairman, G. Wesseh Blamo who presided over the Tuesday Session, mandated Chief Clerk Mildred Sayon to forward the instrument to the Liberian Senate for concurrence.
