MONROVIA, March 9 (LINA) - Resident Judge Roosevelt Willie of the Criminal Court “A” at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia has sentenced Sylvester Tarpeh Davies to 25 years in prison for killing his four-month pregnant girlfriend early last year.
Last Friday, a jury of six handed down a unanimous guilty verdict against Davies for killing Sonnie Tipayson in the Petay Community in Clara Town, Monrovia on November 28, 2014.
During the trial, Davies admitted to the crime of murder and asked the court for mercy.
Handing down the judgment Monday, Judge Willie said his decision is based on the evidence produced during the trial, coupled with the jury’s verdict against the defendant.
Meanwhile, Judge Willie has ordered the Clerk of the Court to prepare a commitment for Davies to serve his term of imprisonment at the Monrovia Central Prison.
