SANNIQUELLIE, March 8 (LINA) -The Coordinator of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection sub-office in Sanniquellie, Ms. Yah Belleh Suah, says 2015 marks a year of turning women’s visions into achievements across Nimba County.
The Gender Coordinator statement came Friday at the commencement of the observance of the International Day of Women on in the county’s capitol, Sanniquellie.
The women delegates, comprising three from each of the 17 administrative districts in Nimba, converged at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection Sub-Office in Sanniquellie to begin the celebration of the Day.
The women delegates plus several prominent women and organizations gathered together not only to celebrate, but to also acquire needed leadership training that will build their capacities to ably conduct supervision of feminine affairs in their respective districts, Ms. Suah said.
She told the Liberia News Agency that the observance of the global women’s day will be climaxed on Sunday, March 8, with a workshop and celebration.
The workshop, according to her, covers intensifying the anti-Ebola message, leadership training for rural women, alleviation of sexual-based violence against women and girls and training in the prevention of HIVAIDS.
Facilitating the training component of the celebration are representatives of the Danish Refugee Council, Nimba County Health Team, National AIDS Control Program, and the local authority of Nimba.
