Rep. Mulbah Says Security Agencies Overlap Functions
By Robert Dixon
MONROVIA, Feb 7 (LINA) - Bong County Representative George S. Mulbah has said the functions of some security agencies are overlapping, and called for a revisit of their roles and responsibilities.
He said the duplication of functions among security agencies has been a source of embarrassment for the country on occasions.
According to the Liberia News Agency, Rep. Mulbah made the statement Thursday when he spoke at a one-day symposium held on the theme: ”Inter-Agency Collaboration During Internal Crisis” organized by the Defense Ministry as part of activities marking the 57th Anniversary of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL).
Rep. Mulbah, who is also Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Security, National Defense and Intelligence, hoped that heads of security agencies would design a strategy that helps formulate a draft legislation for enactment into law to curb duplication of functions among security agencies.
The Bong County lawmaker, however, pledged the House Security and National Defense Committee’s fullest support to the Ministry of National Defense and other security agencies.
