Judge Urges Use Of Judicial Process

By Emmanuel Mondaye, LINA Gbarpolu County Correspondent

KONGBA District, February 21 (LINA) – Presiding Judge George W. Smith of the 16th Judicial Circuit Court in Gbarpolu County has urged residents to take advantage of the judicial process and desist from coming into conflict with the law.

He made the call Friday in Weasua Town when he officially declared the newly-built court and police station open for business.

He thanked the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) Civil Affairs Office in the county for constructing the two structures under its Quick Impact Project.

Judge Smith said that with the new facilities, the risk court officers took to transport murder and rape suspects to Bopolu to the Magisterial Court will be reduced.

Weasua is one of the county’s major diamond mining areas with a high murder rate.

However, because there was no court facility in the area, murder cases were transferred to the Bopolu Magisterial Court for adjudication.
