GBARNGA, January 27 (LINA) – Health authorities in Bong County have conducted a one-day strategic meeting to spur collective participation in the fight against the Ebola virus.
According to Bong County Health Officer Dr. Samson K. Arzoaquoi, the meeting will also solicit the inputs of locals on how the county’s month-long zero case of Ebola can be maintained.
Addressing the opening session of the meeting held in the administrative hall Monday, Dr. Arzoaquoi said the meeting is expected to create a turning point in the fight against the disease that devastated the economic and social fabric of the county.
He lauded national and international partners for the gains made so far but emphasized the need to maintain the current vigilance that is keeping the virus at bay.
Addressing the participants, Bong County Development Superintendent Anthony Sheriff thanked health authorities, government and international partners for successfully curtailing the further spread of the disease in the county but stressed the need for all to press on and not relent.
The meeting brought together district commissioners, town chiefs, district health officers, and representatives of the Center for Disease Control, among others.
