President Seeks Passage of Financing Agreement For Economic Transformation

By Winnie Dixon

MONROVIA, January 26 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has called on the National Legislature to speedily enact Financing Agreement between Liberia and Export-Import Bank of India into law for economic transformation of the country.

“As part of my legislative agenda, I would like for you to also ratify agreements between the government and Bloom Fountain Limited, and a bill to endorse agreement between government and the Liberia Cocoa Corporation”, she added.

Economic Transformation is not only limited to the public sector, but includes the private sector, President Sirleaf said in a nationwide address to the Joint Session of the National Legislature at the Capitol Building Monday.

She added: “Liberia’s economic transformation demands structural reforms of our form of governance.”

She indicated that those instruments, when passed into law, manifest government’s commitment to generate economic and employment opportunities within key corridors of the country.
