By Comfort M. Johnson/LINA

MONROVIA, January 17 (LINA) -Presiding Judge Nelson Tokpa of Criminal Court “D” at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia has sentenced three men to seven years imprisonment for armed robbery.

Those sentenced Friday are Christopher George, alias Christophinco, Mark Agynah alias Little Man and Prince Massaquoi.

The three were arrested by police on November 22, 2013 and later incarcerated at the Monrovia Central Prison pending trial.

Handing down his final judgment, Judge Tokpa said based upon evidence produced during the trial and the unanimous guilty verdict of the Jury as well as the testimonies of state witnesses, it was established that the defendants committed the crime.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Judge Tokpa said the defendants are to serve the seven years jail sentence within the territorial limits of Liberia, commencing on the date and time each defendant was placed behind bars.

During testimonies, the defendants admitted to committing the crime and asked the court for mercy.
